Dear Friends of Freedom:

On Wednesday we sat down to chart our course for the Congressional hearing tomorrow. We decided to ask for letters in order to make sure Members of Congress know that there are people all across this nation who care about religious liberty. We did not know how many letters to expect, but at first we thought around 5,000 would be a fairly good total.

As we further contemplated the number, 5,000 seemed very low considering there are over a million Adventists in the U.S. So then, we set the target high - 20,000 letters in five days!

So how many have been sent so far?  39,094! That's how many!

Thank you to each person who took a minute to send in a letter. And thank you for asking your friends, family and church to write. You have done something truly amazing - you have far exceeded our expectations. May God bless you!

U.S. citizens - And if you haven't sent your letter yet, please don't sit on the sidelines silently.

Tomorrow, February 12, 2008,  at around 3 pm EST, I will be facing the congressional committee. Please keep me in your prayers - the opponents of the bill are well funded, well organized and they are doing all they can to defeat us. Pray God will do something remarkable for His people, as in human terms it is hard to see how we can win. But in Christ all things are possible.

May God bless you,

James Standish, Esq.

As many as possible of District of Columbia area church members and General Conference and

North American Division (Seventh-Day Adventist Church) and employees are being asked to

provide a supportive presence by attending the hearings at the Rayburn House Office Building.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008 is a historic day. For the first time in a generation, a representative

of the Seventh-day Adventist Church will be testifying before U.S Congress

in support of the rights of Sabbath keepers and other people of faith in the workplace.

It is a historic opportunity! http://www.AdventistReview.org/article.php?id=1651

If you haven't already, take a minute to make your voice heard. Freedom dies when good men and women remain silent. This is our time! This is our chance! Let's make it count!

Don’t delay. Please send your letter today! Let your church, your family and your friends know about this upcoming religious liberty battle in Congress, and encourage them to write their letters, too.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is working to ensure that the WRFA is defeated.

Make no mistake about it.  Our brothers and sisters in the faith are suffering because of bigotry in the workplace.

As the law stands now, employers can refuse to give us time to worship our God on the Sabbath, and many Adventists have lost their jobs as a result. The Workplace Religious Freedom Act (H.R. 1431) is a commonsense, reasonable bill that simply requires employers to show they have a good reason to refuse time off on Sabbath before they decide to fire a Seventh-day Adventist.

Here in the Pacific Union, we have prayerfully set a goal of sending 5,000 e.mails. We need 25% of the 800 churches and companies to generate a minimum of 25 e.mails each to meet this goal. Here's how: WHAT TO DO NOW !!!

1.  Each church should print and distribute this alert and urge everyone to send their e.mails to Congress at www.religiousliberty.info.

2.  Every one who receives this alert should take responsibility for getting at least 5 other people to send e.mails at www.religiousliberty.info. You can help them. To send e.mail letter, click > http://capwiz.com/narla/issues/

3.  Every church should set up a computer where people can send their e.mails after church.

4.  Hold a special service to close the Sabbath, and tell church members to come back with anyone they can, and afterwards, have everyone send their e.mails.

5.  If your church has a wireless internet network, have church members bring their laptops to church, so that e.mails can be sent from many different computers.

6.  Forward this e.mail alert to everyone you can. For those who are unfamiliar with the Workplace Religious Freedom Act, you can read about it at www.religiousliberty.info.

7.  If you have other ideas about what to do, send them to mrliberty@churchstate.org, and we'll post them on our website, www.churchstate.org.

8.  PLEASE PRAY!!!
