After 10 hours of debate, the Democrats voted down amendments including protecting unborn children, the elderly, the military, police officers, pregnant women, and protecting religious freedom. H.R. 1592 was passed by the House Judiciary Committee by a 20-14 vote!
“By refusing to accept the amendment on religious freedom, the Democrats have proven their purpose is to silence Christians,” stated TVC Chairman Rev. Louis P. Sheldon.
Traditional Values Coalition is grateful for the strong stand of House Republican Judiciary committee members and the hard work of their staff. We deeply appreciate and commend them for bringing forth the truth, standing firm, and trying to protect freedom of religion in this nation.

H.R. 1592, the Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007, will make homosexual behaviors as well as cross-dressing, transvestism, and transsexualism into federally-protected “minority” groups.
The passage of H.R. 1592 will be a serious threat to freedom of religion and speech. It begins to lay the legal foundation and framework to investigate, prosecute and persecute pastors, business owners, and anyone else whose actions are based upon and reflect the truths found in the Bible regarding homosexuality.
