4Watch India NOW! video I want to extend my deepest gratitude for the prayers and financial support of our ministry friends. The entire India NOW! team has safely returned from that amazing country after a thrilling medical and evangelistic outreach that tested our resolve and, ultimately, glorified the Lord. Sadly, opposition to the gospel message grew increasingly hostile during our outreach. Indeed, other ministries have had to cancel their outreach efforts under the threat of violence from religious groups. But by God’s grace, our medical work was so much appreciated by local authorities, they allowed us to continue sharing God’s Word. However, because they were not able to guarantee our safety from radical Hindu opposition, we did have to finish one night early. When I said we had to reach India before time ran out, friends like you heeded the call and gave your financial and prayer support to reach God’s children before it was too late. Your faithfulness then has reaped eternal rewards. For example, more than 18,000 people crowded together during the last night of meetings to hear the Word of God. And by the time our meetings concluded, area pastors reported that over 15,000 people had accepted Christ in connection with the India NOW! outreach. And of the 70 churches we're helping to build, most of the property has been secured and several have already been completed and dedicated. Praise the Lord! But we still need your prayers, for the people who have recently accepted Christ and those still in the valley of decision. Please pray that God will set a hedge about all these dear people from the social pressures to reject the truth, and for our Bible workers and churches that will continue the work in a hostile area. Again, I thank you for your partnership in this amazing effort to build God’s kingdom. Please look for a complete and full report in the upcoming issue of Inside Report and on this website! www.AmazingFacts.org Pastor Doug Batchelor
Live evangelistic meetings in villages will draw tens of thousands to hear the gospel Evangelists and medical teams will minister in villages, drawing thousands to experience a powerful testimony of God’s love in deed. Transportation to evangelistic meetings will be provided so that people in outlying areas can attend. A climactic all-village event with Pastor Doug will host an estimated attendance of 50,000. Follow-up by Bible workers will train and assist in church growth, leadership development, and discipleship of new believers. The Work Is Underway Our Bible workers are already laying the groundwork in India, sharing literature and preparing local believers to help in this huge event. We’ll reach millions! Moreover, by God’s grace, we’re specifically reaching out to 70 villages with a combined population in the hundreds of thousands, where we’ll plant new churches after an extensive live evangelistic outreach. These villages will experience the transforming power of Christ through the ministry of Pastor Doug Batchelor, evangelists teams, and medical teams. |

| News Reports From India: Christians have often faced opposition due to the deterioration of freedoms under the influence of militant Hindus at the federal level. However, Christians were encouraged by a surprising turn in the May 2004 election when the ruling Hindu nationalist BJP party was overthrown, and the secular National Congress Party was voted into power. Upon forming a coalition with several other parties in what is known as the United Progressive Alliance, their rise to power prompted almost immediate reformation in India. The state of Tamil Nadu, which was the first of several states to adopt anti-conversion legislation under the BJP, was also the first to repeal that law when the government changed hands. Despite the changes in the federal government, however, persecution is far from over. Contrary to the action taken in Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh State has been actually working to tighten anti-conversion laws, stating that it has too many loopholes. Anti-conversion laws remain in place in several states, giving support to militant groups and resulting in ongoing violence against Christians. Specific instances of personal attacks can be named all across India. In May 2005, the death sentence for the man convicted of murdering Australian missionary Graham Staines and his boys in 1999 was commuted from the death sentence to life imprisonment. Seeing this as leniency for those who kill Christians, a Hindu militant and at least two others entrapped and murdered two pastors on the outskirts of Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. Reports of village churches being destroyed and church leaders being threatened by local Hindus continue to be a daily reality in India. Other persecution faced by Christians is more subtle, as converts to Christianity are often cast out of their families and face poverty and ostracism. www.persecution.net/country/india.htm |
Recent Updates from Belarus and Sri Lanka (a) Belarus: The Presidium of the Highest Economic Court of Belarus has cancelled all previous court decisions against the New Life Church in Minsk and will re-examine the case against the church within two weeks, according to a November 4 report from the New Life Church website (www.newlife.by). This is an unusual action by a court body which normally examines matters of state importance, according to the church's legal adviser. Pray for a positive decision by the court.
International attention has been centered on the church because of pressure placed on foreign governments as well as a hunger strike by two hundred church members. On November 2, diplomats from nine European countries and the USA visited the church to better understand the situation. Stephan Eriksson from the Swedish Embassy told them, "During the last weeks we have been observing the things going on in this church. That's why we decided to come here and express our solidarity with the believers' legal demands. Everyone has the right to assemble in the church freely."
(b) Sri Lanka: Last week's Persecution & Prayer Alert reported on an attack against Assembly of God church in Yakkala, Sri Lanka. The Buddhist mob demanded that the church cease meeting (see http://www.persecution.net/news/srilanka75.html). According to a November 7 report from the National Christian Evangelical Alliance of Sri Lanka (NCEASL), the church was able to meet on November 5 without incident. Continue to pray for this church, as they have been facing difficulties and hostilities for a long time. We have had Clarissa Worley www.clar.cc as a featured speaker at the Ohio camp meeting three different years. People love her messages and continue to ask for her to return. The messages minister to hurting people and bring a clear understanding of the Bible. Pastors and members alike have been richly blessed by the thought provoking lessons of faith. Clarissa’s style is warm and refreshing. She continues to be one of the most popular and appreciated speakers we have had. Anyone who secures her as a speaker will be truly blessed.
