Malachi 3:5 New Living Translation

New Living Translation

“At that time I will put you on trial. I am eager to witness against all sorcerers and adulterers and liars. I will speak against those who cheat employees of their wages, who oppress widows and orphans, or who deprive the foreigners living among you of justice, for these people do not fear me,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.

It is obvious what kind of life develops out of trying to get your own way all the time: repetitive, loveless, cheap sex; a stinking accumulation of mental and emotional garbage; frenzied and joyless grabs for happiness; trinket gods; magic-show religion; paranoid loneliness; cutthroat competition; all-consuming-yet-never-satisfied wants; a brutal temper; an impotence to love or be loved; divided homes and divided lives; small-minded and lopsided pursuits; the vicious habit of depersonalizing everyone into a rival; uncontrolled and uncontrollable addictions; ugly parodies of community. I could go on.  Galatians 5

Revelation 18:11-24 New Living Translation

New Living Translation

11 The merchants of the world will weep and mourn for her, for there is no one left to buy their goods. 12 She bought great quantities of gold, silver, jewels, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet cloth; things made of fragrant thyine wood, ivory goods, and objects made of expensive wood; and bronze, iron, and marble. 13 She also bought cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and bodies—that is, human slaves.

14 “The fancy things you loved so much are gone,” they cry.
“All your luxuries and splendor are gone forever, never to be yours again.”

15 The merchants who became wealthy by selling her these things will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will weep and cry out,

16 “How terrible, how terrible for that great city!
She was clothed in finest purple and scarlet linens,
decked out with gold and precious stones and pearls!
 17 In a single moment
all the wealth of the city is gone!”

And all the captains of the merchant ships and their passengers and sailors and crews will stand at a distance. 18 They will cry out as they watch the smoke ascend, and they will say, “Where is there another city as great as this?” 19 And they will weep and throw dust on their heads to show their grief. And they will cry out,

“How terrible, how terrible for that great city!
      The ship owners became wealthy
by transporting her great wealth on the seas.
In a single moment it is all gone.”

20 Rejoice over her fate, O heaven
and people of God and apostles and prophets!
For at last God has judged her
      for your sakes.

21 Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a huge millstone. He threw it into the ocean and shouted,

“Just like this, the great city Babylon
will be thrown down with violence
and will never be found again.
22 The sound of harps, singers, flutes, and trumpets
will never be heard in you again.
   No craftsmen and no trades
will ever be found in you again.
   The sound of the mill
will never be heard in you again.
23 The light of a lamp
will never shine in you again.
The happy voices of brides and grooms
will never be heard in you again.

For your merchants were the greatest in the world,
and you deceived the nations with your sorceries.

24 In your streets flowed the blood of the prophets and of God’s holy people
and the blood of people slaughtered all over the world.”

The Message Bible

Ruth 2 (An example of someone who didn't close all cost/profit centers and gave things away free.)

2 One day Ruth, the Moabite foreigner, said to Naomi, "I'm going to work; I'm going out to glean among the sheaves, following after some harvester who will treat me kindly." Naomi said, "Go ahead, dear daughter."

3-4 And so she set out. She went and started gleaning in a field, following in the wake of the harvesters. Eventually she ended up in the part of the field owned by Boaz, her father-in-law Elimelech's relative. A little later Boaz came out from Bethlehem, greeting his harvesters, "God be with you!" They replied, "And God bless you!"

WorldView Technology Report :: USA ::China :: India

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1909200,00.asp

China is turning out about 600,000 engineers per year; the United States, 70,000; and India, 350,000, according to estimates. And although China continues to turn out more engineers than the United States, Xiong said he has noticed a difference between the engineers in the United States and those in China. He said he went in thinking he would need "1.25 Chinese engineers for each 1 engineer ...used in the U.S."

"But once I got here, I found out the engineers here are totally equipped and have the knowledge and skills to do the job very methodically," he said. Still, with all the technology talent coming from within their own country, the Chinese don't have to rely so much on the outside world. "Ten years ago, people who are called Sea Turtles—people who have been educated in the U.S. and come back to China to work—these people were hot commodities," said Kurt Akeley, assistant managing director of Microsoft Research Asia. "They could command a high salary and get a lot of interest because you had those years of U.S. education. That's not true now.

The institute campus has four guesthouses, a hospital, four nationalised banks, four schools, and a railway reservation counter. The campus has its own water pumping station, electrical sub-station, telephone exchange, a market, six restaurants, and a garbage disposal section for the daily needs of the residents.[5] Construction is going on for another guest house, and a convention centre having a capacity of 2,000. The campus has a civic hospital on its premises. The institute draws its supply of water from wells near the Kosai river (located 112  kilometres away from institute) by harnessing sub-surface water. Three deep wells near the institute supplement the supply from the river. The water is supplied by a 16 inch pipeline to 12 tanks in the campus with a total capacity of 2,800,000 litres (615,000 imperial gallons).

The bigger issue is which "corporation" will be the last one standing?

(I mean the Kingdom of God.)

Where should you invest?

How should you invest in?

Isaiah 2
19Then shall [the stricken, deprived of all in which they had trusted] go into the caves of the rocks and into the holes of the earth from before the terror and dread of the Lord and from before the glory of His majesty, when He arises to shake mightily and terribly the earth.

20In that day men shall cast away to the moles and to the bats their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship,
21To go into the caverns of the rocks and into the clefts of the ragged rocks from before the terror and dread of the Lord and from before the glory of His majesty, when He rises to shake mightily and terribly the earth.

1 Corinthians 13
8Love never fails
[never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (

The Holy Spirit can help you avoid identity theft.

Identity theft is usually thought of as someone assuming your identity - as in using your credit cards - pretending  to be you.  You can buy ID identity theft insurance from an insurance agent.  But real ID theft happens when you don't know who you really are in Christ - the only one who can help you give you a real perspectives on life and yourself.

The Church vs. The Flea Circus?

Sony created the following ad a few years ago for their Play Station 2.

If you don't have DSL or high speed internet,  you'll miss the video. But here's what it says:

"Training fleas requires a glass jar with a lid. The fleas are placed inside the jar and the lid is then sealed.

They are left undisturbed for three days. Then, when the jar is opened, the fleas will not jump out.

In fact, the fleas will never jump higher than the level set by the lid. Their behavior is now set for the rest of their lives.

And when these fleas reproduce, their offspring will automatically follow their example.

Escape the circus and live beyond the limits of the imaginary lid."

See any similarities between the church and the flea circus?

Source: http://mike4tune.blogspot.com/2007/04/church-vs-flea-circus.html  Might not reflect later edits.

High-speed video takes 30 minutes to load 5 minutes on a dial-up connection. Then play.
